About Sivagangai

Sivagangai town is headquarters of sivagangai district in tamil nadu. Sivagangai is the kindom of Rani Velunachiyar. The town is known for agriculture, metal working and waving. After velu nachiyar's period sivagangai is ruled by Periya Marudhu. He was called by "Lion Of Sivagangai". His brother name is "Chinna Marudhu". He was appointed as his adviser. Sivagangai includes for taluks, sivagangai, devakottai, karaikudi and thripathur. This region is well known for agricultural marvels. such as the famous chettinadu house. It showcase the chettinadu style of architecture. Sivagangai district have some tourist place. Such as pillaiyarpatti karpaga vinayagar temple, chettinadu palace, karaikudi, kundrakudi murugan temple.

The region is bounded by Pudukkottai district on the northeast, Tiruchirapalli district on the north, Ramanathapuram district on south east, Virudhunagar district on south west and Madurai district on the west. The rivers vaigai, kottakaraiyar, pambar, thennar, gundar and manimuthar are used to irrigate the land. The district has well developed eco system of instituties and facilities. The city has 9 Engineering colleges, 1 Medical college, 3 nurshing colleges, 1 Agricultural college and 1 Hotel management college, 18 Arts ans science colleges.
