Thiru (Respectful) + Managalyam = Thirumangalyam which over centuries has transformed into Thirumangalam. River Gundar a branch of River Vaigai passes through Thirumangalam. Agriculture is a major occupation in Thirumangalam. World renowned Tamil writer and communist party MP Mr. Su. Venkatesan is from Thirumangalam.

Thirumangalam acts as an education hub for all its surrounding villages with 6 large higher secondary schools located there. To promote education and admissions in schools in Thirumangalam lots of money is spent in print and publicity, thus making huge demand for graphic designers.
