About Simmakkal Madurai

Simmakkal is a locality situated within Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. It forms a part of the city and is known for trading activities and history that runs even deeper than that. The term "Simmakkal" literally translates into the words "stone statue of a lion" in Tamil, and at the heart of the locality, you will find an inscription in the stone in front of a lion.
